Why a stainless steel drinking bottle?
High-quality stainless steel is one of the most hygienic materials available. The unique surface has no pores or cracks that can collect dirt or bacteria, making it very easy to clean.
Durable – A stainless steel drinking bottle stays clean and hygienic for many years, stainless steel itself has a lifespan of over 100 years.
Safe - Food grade 304 stainless steel is 100% BPA-free, safe, non-toxic and non-leaching. All of our materials are constantly tested for harmful substances by a reputable laboratory.
Environmentally friendly – A reusable drinking bottle helps to reduce the huge mountain of PET and plastic waste in our oceans. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable!

Does my drink taste better from a stainless steel water bottle?
All drinks from the stainless steel bottle can be enjoyed without any change in taste. Clean, safe and always fresh!
Is my ECOtanka™ made of solid stainless steel?
Yes, the ECOtanka™ drinking bottles are made of solid 304 stainless steel and do not require an internal coating. The stainless steel and the closures are continuously tested for contamination.
Is my ECOtanka™ safe?
The ECOtanka™ stainless steel drinking bottles are absolutely safe! The bottles are made from the best 304 stainless steel, the same material preferred in hospitals and commercial kitchens. The stainless steel is always tested by a reputable testing institute! The bottles are 100% BPA-free (Bisphenol-A) and non-toxic.
Are all ECOtanka™ closures safe?
All ECOtanka™ closures are made from either stainless steel or 100% BPA-free and non-leaching Polypropylene #5.
What is the difference between stainless steel and aluminum bottles?
All aluminum bottles must be coated on the inside with plastic or substances such as epoxy for safety and health reasons. This coating could come off or chip if the bottle falls, exposing the aluminum. Stainless steel, on the other hand, does not need coatings. Unlike aluminum, it does not leach out. In addition, because it does not need a coating, it is less energy-intensive to produce than aluminum!
Where and how are the ECOtanka™ drinking bottles manufactured?
All ECOtanka™ products are developed and designed in New Zealand. The production company is located in Zhejiang Province in China, the only country that produces stainless steel bottles.
The ECOtankas are manufactured in a state-of-the-art company, mostly by machine. The company does not allow child labor, the employees are well paid and work in a clean and safe environment. ECOtanka constantly checks to ensure that a high-quality and environmentally friendly product is produced in a "fair trade" climate.
We believe that in this case it is right to produce ecologically sensible products in China. The catastrophic plastic pollution of the world's oceans is a global problem and so our location in Asia is well and centrally located for worldwide distribution of ECOtankas.
What is the best way to clean my ECOtanka™?
ECOtanka™ are very easy to clean. They are rinsed with warm water or put in the dishwasher (except colored or double-walled bottles!). The bottles can also be sterilized in boiling water. The wide opening makes cleaning easier.
How do I clean my ECOtanka™ closures?
The ECOtanka™ closures can be safely placed in the dishwasher or simply cleaned by hand with warm water.
Can I put my ECOtanka™ in the freezer?
The ECOtanka™ should not be placed fully in the freezer as the water will expand and could damage the bottle. All ECOtanka™ stainless steel drinking bottles have a wide opening, so ice cubes can also be added.
Can I fill hot drinks into my ECOtanka™?
The original ECOtanka™ bottle range is not designed for hot drinks. The bottles are single-walled and therefore do not retain heat.
